Growing up in the working class neighborhood of Tipperary Hill on Syracuse’s West End, it was easy to feel a deep connection to the people who looked out for me. The community organizations made it easy for everyone to interact, connect and influence our local leaders. That early experience is why I am so passionate about the people who live in our community. We should expect more of our elected officials. It is time for teachers, nurses, carpenters, musicians and others that have been pushed aside to take their seat at the table.
